Many prepaid legal services use a network of salespeople who generally contact friends and family to purchase these plans. And more often than not, those people are asked in turn to sell those prepaid legal plans, which is considered multi-level marketing or network sales.
Many people like this type of sales structure and enjoy selling products this way. There are also ways that these people can incorporate selling these plans with their current employment. For example, a real estate agent discovered a prepaid legal service that would cover the preparation of real estate transfer deeds. He would sell his real estate clients a prepaid legal plan so they could have the deed prepared by the plan’s attorney. On the positive side, this plan cost less than what an attorney would for the deed preparation. And the agent got a commission for each plan he sold to his clients.
While this may be only one of many positive network marketing or multi-level marketing examples that actually let the person make some money, there are many others out there that make nothing at all. In fact, some plans even charge their sales people a fee just for allowing them to sell their plans. Other network sales programs that well these prepaid legal plans say than more than half of their sales force don’t sell any plans at all.
In addition to this fee that may be associated to let you sell their products, you should investigate any of these multi-level marketing opportunities or schemes carefully before you enter into one. You should not have to pay for the opportunity to make money for either yourself, but especially not to make money for the company. Large profits are more often made from this part of scheme, rather than through the actual sale of the product.
